Substantial procurement for multiple categories has entered a substantive phase: In the second half of 2026, the procurement of spinal, sports medicine, and trauma consumables through continuous volume procurement is progressing. Specifically, the historical procurement data for spinal products has been completed, and it is anticipated that the procurement document for soliciting opinions will be released in the near future. Following the centralized procurement of artificial joints, the follow-up procurement of other orthopedic categories is also accelerating, presenting overall characteristics of "stabilizing prices and ensuring supply."
Multi-category follow-up procurement has entered a substantive stage: In the second half of 2026, follow-up volume-based procurement for orthopedic spine, sports medicine, and trauma consumables is underway. Among them, the spine category has completed the reporting of historical procurement data and is expected to release a draft for comments on procurement documents soon. The earlier implemented centralized procurement of artificial joints has entered its third-year agreement period, with the national tripartite agreement just signed and completed in early September.
"Mini national procurement" scope expands: In the field of trauma consumables, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei "3+N" alliance is launching follow-up procurement after expansion, covering major categories such as bone plates and intramedullary nails. Due to its wide alliance coverage, its influence is comparable to "mini national procurement." Medical insurance bureaus in Beijing, Shanghai, and many other places have issued documents requiring medical institutions to report historical procurement data.
Procurement rules shift from "price squeezing" to "stabilizing expectations": Judging from the recent policy pace, orthopedic follow-up procurement no longer pursues the "one-size-fits-all" sharp price cuts of the first round of centralized procurement, but focuses more on stabilizing market supply and enterprise expectations through "linking volume and price." At the same time, the trend of domestic substitution continues to deepen—taking artificial joints as an example, the proportion of domestic enterprises has increased from about 80% in the first centralized procurement to over 87% after the renewal bidding.
