Clinical collaboration focusing on robot-assisted joint replacement, complex joint revision and minimally invasive treatment of joint diseases in elderly populations.
The China-Japan Friendship Hospital is a large comprehensive Grade-A tertiary hospital directly under the National Health Commission. It opened on October 23, 1984, integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, and preventive healthcare. It currently has 1,610 authorized beds and serves as the National Center for Respiratory Medicine and the National Center for Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine. It is also a pilot hospital for national high-quality development. The hospital's Department of Orthopedics has multiple sub-specialties, including Joint Surgery, Spine Surgery, and Traumatology. Several departments and specialties have been recognized as National Key Clinical Specialty Construction Projects, making it one of the benchmark medical institutions in the domestic field of orthopedics.
The Orthopedics and Joint Surgery team is led by Professor Wang Weiguo, actively exploring joint replacement, digital orthopedics, and artificial intelligence. Since 2021, they have performed Mako smart robot-assisted joint replacement surgeries. In January 2023, the installation was officially completed, and the Mako Asia-Pacific Training Center was established. They have completed nearly 100 hip and knee joint replacement surgeries, marking that the department has reached the leading domestic level in digital orthopedics. The Department of Orthopedics has accumulated rich experience in diagnosing and treating osteonecrosis of the femoral head and minimally invasive artificial hip and knee joint replacement, publishing over 100 papers in domestic and international professional journals and receiving multiple science and technology awards.
Both parties carry out multi-dimensional cooperation around the entire process of joint replacement, covering key links such as clinical validation of products, standardization of surgical techniques, and construction of postoperative follow-up systems:
Jointly carry out clinical application research on robot-assisted joint replacement to promote surgical precision and standardization.
Establish standardized surgical procedures for hip and knee replacement to improve clinical efficacy and patient satisfaction.
Huakang Tianyi's new joint prostheses are used in clinical applications and follow-up data collection at Peking Union Medical College Hospital.
Jointly build a long-term postoperative follow-up database to provide data support for product optimization and clinical decision-making.
After years of deep cooperation, both parties have achieved remarkable results in clinical application, academic research, and product iteration:
Clinical Application: Huakang Tianyi's joint replacement system has completed a large number of clinical applications at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, covering complex primary and revision joint replacement cases.
Academic Research: Jointly carry out research on the application of digital orthopedics and artificial intelligence in joint replacement to promote the development of surgical precision.
Technical Platform: Relying on platforms such as the Mako Smart Robot Asia-Pacific Training Center to carry out standardized surgical training and technological innovation.
Medical-Engineering Integration: Continuously promote the clinical translation and standardized application of intelligent orthopedic medical devices.
